Gail Wein is a classical music journalist and communications consultant.  As a freelance arts reporter, her features are heard on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered and on KUSC-FM in Los Angeles and WAMU-FM in Washington, DC.  As a print journalist, Gail writes classical music features and reviews for Musical America, Playbill, Symphony Magazine, New Music Box and Classical Source, and was a music critic for The Washington Post. Gail also writes and edits concert program notes and CD liner notes.

For five years Gail was producer of National Public Radio’s and American Public Media’s daily classical radio program Performance Today.  Her broadcast experience includes announcer/producer positions in classical and triple-A and classic rock formats in Washington DC, Dallas and St. Louis; and nationally on ABC Radio Networks.

Gail's diverse career path includes a long stint as a computer programmer and actuary.  Her tremendous interest in new music led to a position as general manager of Voices of Change, a contemporary chamber music group.  An early enthusiasm for radio was fueled by involvement at her high school radio station, and at WHRW-FM at Binghamton University, where she earned degrees in music and math.
